Players are still managing to find ways to “break” Marvel Rivals, with a handy new Doctor Strange portal trick going viral online. Strange can spawn two portals on any given map, though with the right position, these portals can actually give players access to out-of-bounds areas, locking enemies in essentially a self-contained prison. Strange’s portable ability was meant to be powerful, but it will be interesting to see what developer NetEase does with an exploit as broken as this as Marvel Rivals’ Season 2 cycle continues.
While Marvel Rivals has a ton of content to offer players, it’s the game’s roster that is likely the most compelling piece of the puzzle for fans. Marvel Rivals launched with an impressive 33 characters, ranging from iconic heroes like Iron Man and Spider-Man to classic villains like Hela and Venom. Each character has their own unique abilities and attributes, though Doctor Strange’s portals are unparalleled in their power. Due to this power, players are always finding new ways to use Doctor Strange’s kit, with one player in particular discovering a brand-new, most definitely unintended use for his portals.

If players place one of Strange’s portals close enough to specific walls, they can actually clip through them and open the portal on the other side. This essentially means players can access what would be considered off-limits areas during matches. Marvel Rivals content creator Jay3 showed off the new exploit, revealing the power it could have during matches. When combined with Jeff the Land Shark, who has perhaps Marvel Rivals’ most controversial ultimate, the full potential of this exploit is revealed, allowing full teams to be wiped from the playable bounds of the map quite literally.
There are already a number of strategies players can use regarding Doctor Strange’s portals in Marvel Rivals, though this is likely not a developer-approved one. Players affected by this exploit are basically thrown in jail, doomed to sit as the rest of their team continues the battle. What truly makes this such a diabolical strategy is that, after the enemy team is thrown into this “jail,” the player using Doctor Strange switches characters, deleting the portals from the map and leaving enemies trapped.
